We calculated a solid - a "fundamental body" - in which both the height and the diameter at distance of nine-tenth are equal to 1. Its volume ia the relative volume which is independent from the height or the normal dlamter d0.9 and increases with the age to a certain extend then after reaching its maximum it decreases gradually. In our experiment we calculated the stem analyses of sample trees of two even aged stands of Cryptomeria japonica in order to make clear the progress of the relative volume.
