Abstract
Temperature, relative humidity and dew were measured in a kettle hole during one growing season. By means of statistics climate was compared with outbreaks of Scleroderris canker. Scots pine seedlings were affected the most on the north-facing slope and at the bottom of the kettle hole. Inoculation with ascospores increased occurrence of the disease. The microclimate at the bottom of the kettle hole was cool and moist, but in this experiment only shading increased the incidence of the disease. The Scleroderris canker damages were preceded by growing seasons with a low temperature sum, high precipitation, a low total irradiation or summer frosts.
