The introduction of this monography describes the history of lepidopterology in Romania and the geographical situation and ecology of the nature provinces. Graphical illustrations show the morphology of Noctuidae. The special part comprises a documentation of 670 taxa from the area investigated. 650 species and subspecies could be recorded for Romania. For each taxon described notes on biology, ecology, total distribution and occurrence in Romania have been evaluated. Distribution maps have been produced for all species. For determination purposes the species are shown in colour. The male and if necessary the female genitalia are presented as line-drawings.
