- AbstractA survey was made in the State of Nuevo Leon located in the Northeastern part of Mexico which posses a rich conifer flora represented by nine species of Pinus, two species of Abies, three species of Juniperus, one species of Pseudotsuga, one species of Cupressus, one species of Picea, one species of Taxodium and one species of Taxus. In contrast with this rich conifer flora the knowledge about the mycoflora associated with these tree species is poor. Since , 1990 as a part of the inventory of the mycoflora of the Nuevo Leon's Forests, the following species of conifer foliage inhabiting fungi are to date registered: Asteridiella pitya (Sacc.) Hansf., Coccodothis sphaeroidea (Cooke) Thiess. P Syd., Furcaspora pinicola Bonar, Hendersonia pinicola Wehmeyer, Herpotrichia juniperi (Duby)Pert., Lophodermium australe Dearn., Lophodermium nitens Darker, Meloderma desmazierezii (Duby)Darker, Mycosphaerella dearnessii Barr, Mycosphaerella pini Rostr. apud Munk, Pestalotiopsis funerea (Desmaz.) Steyaert, Phaeocryptopus gaeumannii (T. Rohde)Petr., Ploioderma hedgcokii (Dearn.)Darker, Rhizosphaera pini, Rhizosphaera kalkhoffii, Sphaeropsis sapinea (Fr.:Fr.)Dyko P Sutton, Coleosporium spp., Gymnosporangium sp., Melampsora sp. From the above cited species Mycosphaerella pini (Dothistroma septospora (Doroguine) Morelet) is the most important causing a severe needle blight on Pinus cembroides Zucc..
