- AbstractThe paper analyseys the impact of forest law and related legislation on sustainable forest resources development. It places nominal and functional forest law in the context of fundamental constitutional values and reviews within the context of a free market economy the role of government and private initiative in managing forest resources. General objectives of forest law, regulatory and incentive provisions, public participation in forest management decisions and provisions related to forest resources monitoring are discussed. Legislative provisions related to various categories of forest tenure options in managing forest resources on public land are reviewed.
