- AbstractTopophysical variation between two topoclones, one from the very top meristem of a 30 meter high Sequoia, the second from meristems excised from the sprouts growing on the roots of the same tree, has been progressively reduced, when multiplying the number of passages "in vitro" from 1987 to 1992. After field establishment, "top" and "low" plants, expressed two very different comportments, following they were or not severed at soil level: Coppice-shoots induced on "top" and "low" plants expressed a common juvenile phenotype. Not severed top plants, expressed again, part of the mature traits related to their initial poition on the ortet: leaf morphology, pigmentation, flowering and flushing habit, vigor and orthotropy... We can to date, from a same mature plant, produce a large spectrum of developmental phases among stecklings of same chronological age, cultivation history and genotype and analyse their DNA and proteins without to take account of a possible genetical difference, as it is the case whith the classical pair: Juvenile seedling: mature mother tree.
