Fefteen populations of Castanea sativa Mill. from three regions of Italy were assayed for 13 enzyme loci, in order to evaluate the genetic variability and differentiation between demes. Population genetics statistics were computed. The results showed no trivial relationship between genetic distances and geographic distribution.
