- AbstractThe model of genetic control for 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (6PGD) in Norway spruce has been inferred by analyzing the female gametophytes. The electrophoretic patterns have revealed a putative gene duplication for 6 PGD, which may have involved between the conifers only the genus Picea. On the basis of the distribution of this duplication within the genus, the circumscription of a derived monophyletic group is suggested, comprising both North-American and European species. The phylognetic inferences based on the duplication data are in accordance with those based on morphological, crossability and chromosomal data.
