Abstract
Many of the non-timber benefits, products or phenomena (such as wildlife habitats, hydrology, scenic amenities, disturbances created by e.g. fire, insects and pathogens) include issues of spatial character. Therefore, there is an in increasing need to move towards ecosystem management at the landscape level. This sets higher demands for scenario modelling which is often used to predict the consequences of possible changes in forest management practices. The international seminar and summer school entitled "Forest Scenario Modelling for Ecosystem Management at Landscape Level" was held in Wageningen, the Netherlands, to discuss the requirements and developments in forest scenario modelling. These proceedings include the presentations of the invited speakers from the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, and New Zealand, as well as the voluntary papers, giving an in-depth view on the latest forest resource planning tools.
