- AbstractFarmers' rationale, mechanisms and tactics; Sequestration strategies and motivations of Midwest grain farmer
Recognition of the need to reduce atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations and appreciation of the role that agricultural soils can immediately play in climate change mitigation have created a demand for policies and programmes that promote C sequestration in soil. Public and private support for efforts to increase soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks are justified by the fact that we possess both the knowledge and technologies needed to make rapid progress towards sequestration goals to migitate climate change while enhancing soil's provisioning, buffering, and regulating services. While this is nothing new, interest has grown rapidly due to government and private willingness to invest in mechanisms to promote C sequestration in arable soils.
