The relationship and interactions between agriculture, society and policy are changing. Much of this change is being driven by climate change, and associated concerns that modern intensive agriculture is a net contributor to climate change but also vulnerable to its consequences. Nationally and internationally, almost all intensive agriculture is supported by subsidy payments which influence farmers' land management decision-making.
