- AbstractDSM can bei a practical approach to obtain the baseline soil carbon stock for monitoring of management purposes. No single approach of function can bei recommended to model 3D or depth distribution and mapping of soil carbon, as soil processes vary within space. Choosing the best covariates for DSM should be done carefully considering the landscape and soil processes. The scale of spatial suveys and sampling is an influencing factor in soil carbon mapping accuracy and uncertainty. Field-scale and landscape-scale variography can help to decide the number of samples and balance the cost with modeling uncertainty.
