Der Österreichische Wasser- und Abfallwirtschaftsverband (ÖWAV) hat im November 2012 erstmals in Österreich in Kooperation mit dem Lebensministerium (Forsttechnischer Dienst für Wildbach- und Lawinenverbauung) einen Aufbaukurs zum/zur Wildbachaufseher/in veranstaltet. Der 2½-tägige Kurs umfasste ein bunt gemischtes Programm aus Grundlagenvermittlung und Praxisanwendung. Als Vortragende konnten Praktiker der Wildbach- und Lawinenverbauung, vom Land OÖ und der Privatwirtschaft gewonnen werden. Aufgrund der erfolgreichen Startveranstaltung soll der Kurs ab dem kommenden Jahr 2013 an mehreren Standorten österreichweit angeboten werden.
The Austrian Water and Waste Management Association (ÖWAV) has hold an initial course for “torrent inspectors” in November 2012. The course was organized in cooperation with the Austrian Service for Torrent and Avalanche Control, which is a department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management. The course lasted for 2 ½ days and provided some basic information about torrents in general. More than half of the time the participants were spending in the field (torrent catchment) where they were able to try out practically what they had learned in the classroom. They lecturers all had many years of experience in torrent inspection and were coming from the Austrian Service for Torrent and Avalanche Control, the federal state government of Upper Austria and technicians from engineering offices. As the first course turned out to be a reasonable success, it is planned to continue the courses in 2013 in different regions.
