Abstract
After the Douglas fir seed year of 1929 seed from 17 American and 3 German sources was produred by the initiative of Prof. Wiedemann. The delivering firm, Long Gell Lumber Sales Corporation, Longview, (Wash.) certified their regional origins. With the plants grown from this seed in the nursey of Pein, Halstenbek, parallel tests were made: 12 in Germany, 2 in Denmark and 1 in Hungary. Another experiment was started by Prof. Dr. Baron Geyer von Schweppenburg in forest district Gahrenberg, Hessen. The growth of these stands which are now about 24 years old has been measured by the research institute of Lower Saxony for the experiments in Baunlage and Gahrenberg, by the institute of Baden for the location Feldberg and by the institute of Eberswalde for the test in Freienwalde. Aslo about the development on the other sample plots which are mostly situated in the Eastern Zone of Germany some records are available.
