Owing to the growing demand for wild cherry wood in the world's market and Latvia, its cultivation for harvesting has been initiated, and studies of the physical and mechanical properties of wild cherry growing in Latvia are under way. Wild cherry wood is not so widely available as, for example, birch wood. However, both these wood species have a similar density. Therefore, it is of interest to compare other physical and mechanical properties of both these species. The studies were carried out for four stem heights (butt-end R, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4).
