Abstract
This study covered 8 domestic and 3 foreign populations of Silver fir. The experimental trial was established in 1988 in small round shaped plots 4 are each, with representatives of particular provenances planted in a couple of repetitions. Growth (height, annual height increment, d.b.h) and phenological attributes of both leader shoot and lateral shoots were subjected to analysis. Considering height, the tallest tirs were those representing Manowo and Minsk Mazowiecki populations, while the poorest height was characteristic for firs from Tomaszow Lubelski and Brzeziny. The annual mean height increment proved to distinctly differ the populations. The highest height increment was found in the populations coming from Manowo, Baar, Jozefow and Baligrod, while the poorest height increment was observed in Silver fir from Tomaszow Lubelski and Brzeziny. Considering the mean diameter at breast height the top populations proved to be Manowo, Minsk Mazowiecki, Baar and Limanowa. The smallest d.b.h was found in Tomaszow Lubelski, Brzeziny and Pfalzgrafenweiler. The latest bud bursting Silver fir population has been Alpirsbach, while the earliest bursting have been Silver fir trees originated from Limanowa, Brzeziny, Baligrod and Pfalzgrafenweiler.
