- AbstractThe possibility of fitting Weibull-function on the basis of very simple entries (only basal area and stem numbers/ha) for predicting stem number distributions is studied from a set of 483 distributions of pure spruce Stands. Estimation of the three parameters of the Weibull-functions is possible, when introducing a simple indicator for the stand density the so called sdf or space occupation factor. This allows astonishing good fitting results ws with R2 > 0.84 for each Parameter. Influence of site index appears not to be decisive. A diameter increment function, dependent on the social Position factor Gcum (overtopping basal area of the diameter categories) allow an accurate prediction of the diameter and so far to simulate the distribution changes. Influence of the silvicultural treatment is presented for a thinning experiment with wide amplitude of stand densities.
