In establishing the Public Enterprise Sachsenforst (Saxon Forest) at 01.01.2006 the governmental forest administration in Saxony was reformed fundamentally. The legal form Public Enterprise according to "§ 26 Sächsische Haushaltsordnung" (Saxon budget order) in connection with the new and adaptable structural organization aims at coping successfully economic and social change in forestry together with achieving state government's financial and human resources management objectives. The new structure's characteristic features are, while maintaining the principle of uniform forest administration, implementation of functional (organizational and personnel) separation ("separation in unity"), maintaining of the territorial principle and purity of property in sustainable units (forest districts and forest ranges) as well as transition from three-stage to two-stage structure (State Ministry - Public Enterprise Sachsenforst, general management - forest districts).
