The presented paper supplies as description of the situation of forestry in the district "Deutscheinsiedel" in the second half of the 20th century, i.e. the time of extreme deposition loads and environmental pollution by coal combustion for energy production and coal utilization for industria purposes. The forest in the district "Deutscheinsiedel" was almost totally destroyed: at a glance, 27,000 ha were strongly affected by the depositions and until 1996, 10,400 ha of spruce stands died back. The article provides information on silvicultural strategies and chances, how to restorate these forests, the actual problems and cost efficient possibilities for conversion and the future management targets.
