Would the decision for forest management according to Art. 3.4 of the Kyoto Protocol be a sensible choice for Germany? Since the Kyoto Protocol entered into force in February 2005, national climate and forest policy makers can no longer evade this question. What seems to be a rather marginal question in the complicated ramification of international climate agreements could have severe impacts on German forestry. The article briefly describes some basic facts and then discusses several arguments for and against an inclusion of forest management.
