In the research project "Acceptance analysis about aims and measures of red deer management in the Bavarian forest" the Bavarian State Institute of Forestry (LWF) found out, that there are two different groups, in which hunters and landowners are concentrated as soon as the issue "red deer" is raised. One group insists on given circumstances (catchword: winter gate, red deer reservations), the other one demands the free roaming of red deer in the Bavarian forest. It is advisable, to let some red deer live nomadic in the forests of eastern Bavaria - watched by telemetering and saved by the hunters. So we could find out their hiking trails and check out possible damages in the wood. On this assessment basis we can design a joint red deer management concept for the Bavarian forest.
