Abstract
Because of the importance of macropores to solute transport during high intensity rainfalls, this study tries to quantify the flux that bypasses the matrix. At eight plots a high precipitation rate of 40 mm was simulated with Brilliant Blue FCF as a dye tracer and Bromide as a conservative tracer. One day after irrigation the plots were excavated and six profiles per site were photographed. Furthermor soil samples were taken off the stained surface. Then the dye was extracted from the samples and the visualisation and quantification of the flowpaths followed according to the Brilliant Blue FCF and Bromide concentrations, which showed an enormous heterogenity.
