For a good growth Acer platanoides requires ecological conditions which satisfly as well his high light requirement as his heavy demands on nutrient supply. When both conditiones are given in an optimum way Acer platanoides realize his full growth potential in the youth an culminates in regard to his height increment with a shoot length of about 1,0m at the age of ten or eleven years. In the south of lower saxony at Northeim forest he shows the ability to exceed a maximum hight of more than 35m and a maximum diameter at breast height of more than 1,0m. On average the yearly diameter increment amoumts 4,6mm. At Northeim forest Acer platanoides also belongs to the long and straight shafted valuable broadleaved trees. Taking that into consideration it doesn't wonder, that the auctions in Katlenburg of the last four years have shown proceeds more than 3 000 DM/mß.
