ForesTec - the adaption of "Skandinavian Short-term Courses" for the European forest industry. It is a project coordinated by Eurofortech, Dublin, on behalf of an international partnership of forest training providers and colleges. ForesTec is a pilot initiative under strand II of the "Leonardo da Vinci" EU-Programme. "Leonardo da Vinci" is the European Commission's action programme for the implementation of a European Community vocational training. The first result of the ForesTec project is a survey of 642 "Short-Term-Courses" demanded by a special Questionaire to 51 institutes from Finland (24), Sweden (20) and Norway (7). The questionaire is managed by Oulu College of Forestry with the help of Eurofortech, Dublin. Most important messages: - Most institutions that answered this questionaire thought that the survey is "very good" and database is important. - "This kind of survey helps to find the common level for forestry education." - "Small scale forestry and big scale forestry can complete each other". An education local forestry should get attention. - Short-Term-Courses should be most useful on database in Internet with informations about costs.
