The free state of Thuringia has several funding programs for forestry. The funds allocated by Thuringia, Germany and the European Union are optimally combined. Due to the outstanding efforts of all "ThüringenForst" staff members involved, in the years 1991-2002, they were granted Œ 155.34 million from the various programs (an average of Œ 46 per year and hectare for private and coporate forestland). In 1998, an IT solution was installed to streamline administrative processes. This solution not only validates and tracks fund flows in accordance with legislation on grants, but also en-sures long-term data storage. Changes in framework terms and funding allocations can be smoothly integrated.
