- AbstractThis article is addressed to forest managers, politicians and lobbyists that deal with evaluation and development of forest-rural working systems. It aims to propose a holistic planning method that takes into account social, ecological and economic sustainability. Emphasis is laid on the role of human factor. The wood harvesting system is analysed as a socio-technical system. The implementation of Harvester and chainsaw is comparatively examined using the "Tavistock" method. The relevance of each stage of the Tavistock method to business management and macroeconomics as well as to environmental-forest politics is discussed.
