- AbstractGrowth and yield of stand of Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus saligna in South Brazil were studied both in high forests and coppice, both after deep and shallow soil preparation. From the observations of the dominant geights from permanent plots site index systems were derived using Richards-Function in its mono-monecular form. While two different systems were necessary for the two types of soil preparation, no distiction had to be made between the two species. Reineke's (1933) maximum stand density index was evaluated by the methods described by Sterba (1981). SDImax had values between 1400 and 1700 stems/ha. There was no difference between high forests and coppice, but within the high forests and coppice, but within the high forests potential density was higher for Eucalyptus grandis and for the deep soil preparation method. After the development of own stem number guide lines and stand volume equations for stem volume with bark and for wood above 5cm without bark five yield tables were calculated for the following strata: - Eucalyptus saligna, high forests, shallow soil preparation - Eucalyptus saligna, high forests, deep soil preparation - Eucalyptus saligna, coppice, shallow soil preparation - Eucalyptus grandis, high forests, deep soil preparation - Eucalyptus grandis, coppice, shallow soil preparation. These yield tables were given for site indices from 14 to 34m (index age 7 years). Depending on site index mean annual volume increment had its maximum between an age of 6 and 12 years and reached figures of 10 to 50 Kubikmeter without bark year and hectare.
