- AbstractThis paper reviews the occurrence of fungi on the acorns of Quercus robur and Quercus petraea in the Czech Republic since 1986. More than 99 fungus species were identified from acorns. Among the most prevalent saprophytic fungi were species of Penicillium, Aspergillus, Mucor, Rhizopus stolonifer, Trichothecium roseum, Trichoderma, Alternaria alternata, Arthrobortrys, Doratomyces and others. As to pathogens, mainly Ciboria batschiana, then Cytospora intermedia, Phomopsis quercella, Botrytis cinerea, Pestalotia sp. and several species of Fusarium were observed as were species in the genus Ophiostoma (Ceratocystis sensu lato). Usually the wet chamber method was used to determine the mycoflora of acorns, but sometimes agar media such as malt agar or various selective media were used to detect specific pathogens such as species of Fusarium, and Cyslindrocarpon.
