- AbstractResearch was conducted on a training surface of Zielonka Forest Inspectorate established by the author in 1962. Investigations comprised progeny from 26 choice trees and, for comparative purposes, one progeny from a population of a pine stand. These investigations showed that the descendants of choice trees were higher and had bigger breast height diameter and bigger trunk weight. Trunk volume of the progeny of choice trees was by about 35% bigger than that of the progeny of an ordinary pine stand normally used for afforestation of a given natural region. It is, therefore, necessary to increase the amount of seeds obtained from high quality trees and use them in establishing new forest areas.
