- AbstractThe occurrence of damping-off fungi in diseased pine seedlings were studied. Isolation and pathogenicity tests showed that damping-off diseases of seedlings in northern Iraw nurseries are mainly caused by Rhizoctonia solani and Fusarium oxysporum. The seed isolations showed the Fusarium oxysporum is a seed borne fungus. Pathogenicity of these fungi revealed that R. solani was the mist virulent on pine seedlings. Some control trials against damping- off in Pinus brutia seedlings were carried out by chemical treatments. The efficacy of captan and lime on controlling the disease was studied under greenhouse conditions. The chemicals were showing satisfactory results were obtained by captan treatment.
