There is a deficit of theory formulating appropriate indicators of sustainable development. this paper deals with an interdisciplinary concept in which way economics and natural sciences can contribute to determine appropriate indicators. The concept integrates weak and strong sustainability discussing the importance of substitutionality between different forms of wealth and the nature-saving technical progress for a sustainable development. The results are that it is needed to proof the essentiality of forest wealth to the economic development and to evaluate forest wealth in monetary terms.
