- AbstractIn spite of the fact that air pollution is progressively decreasing at the end of 80ies, new damage of spruce and birch stands has been observed since winter 1995/96. The damage seems to be caused by a combination of anthropgenic and abiotic/biotic factors. While spruce has been regenerating gradually since 1997, birch stands still continuously decline. Also symptoms of so called "New type of forest decline", spread in most of Central and Western Europe in eighties, have appeared in the ridge region of the western part of the Ore Moutains.
