Although the huge amounts of tritium released to the environment during the nuclear bomb testing in the early 1960s nearly disappeared, some other anthropogenic sources such as the nuclear fuel cycle, fusion test experiments or other industrial and military applications still inject tritium into the atmosphere. Since 1991 samples of air vapour and hydrogen are taken at the Arsenal and analysed for their tritium content. The sampling installation, sample recovery and final results are discussed.
