Abstract
The United States has enacted many environmental protection laws during the last three decades that collectively have had substantial impacts on forest reource management. These influences have dramatically increased in recent years as the scope of original legislation has been expanded and as the courts have become more involved in statutory interpretation. This paper provides on overview of the effects of modern U.S. environmental legislation of forest resource management practices. It concludes by examining the current implications and future outlook.
