Abstract
The sustained multiple use of forests demands improving the economic mechanism of managing the long-term process of extended reproduction of forest resources. The paper considers problems of managing forests as the property of the whole nation, suggests recommendations to improve forest resources users' activity for the USSR forestry in the period of perestroika.
