The Forest Authority of Brandenburg has been newly established in 1991 and since 1994 there were several attempts to adjust its structure to altering volume of tasks. Linked with the decision to maintain state own forest and in the hope to economize 100 Million DM, the instruction was given, to evaluate the opportunities of a new - perhaps private - legal status. The results obtained, mainly the proposed "institution of public right" did not convince neither politicians nor forest staff.
