The success of forest regeneration either by sowing or by planting depends on monitoring of spontaneous vegetation. It requires a lot of work, with manual, mechanical, chemical or other equipment. The effects of vegetation on young trees are unsufficiently well known for a adequate management or equipment. We will briefly expose the problem, then give a few results about the effects of vegetation on young forest trees and some example of natural regeneration and plantation strategy.
