Abstract
In the region of the Trier-Bitburger-Mulde (Germany) lysimeter studies are performed since 1994 for investigating the soil moisture and soil water dynamics respectively. The lysimeter is a suitable instrument for measuring percolation water rates for the unsaturated zone. The results of a three years measurement period show that the annual amount of percolation water correlates with the variability between the amount of percolation water can be explained by the influence of the soil properties and landuse. Hereby the soil properties and landuse. Hereby the soil properties and in particular the macropores have a striking effect on the variability of the water flows in soil.
