The most important devasting interventions which are responsible for the destruction and degradation of forest ecosystems are following: - The clearing of forest, to make way for agriculture, pastures and urban areas. - The overexploitation and the illegal use of them as clearcuts, forest litter utililization etc. - The overgrazing which causes various damages on the soil and the regeneration. - The wild fires which in combination with other devastating interventions contribute to the destruction of forest ecosystems. The rehabilitation of the degraded forest ecosystems could be accelerated by taking of preventive measures and by applying the appropriate silvicultural measures. The most important of them are following: - Restriction use of forests. - Solution of the overgrazing problem of forests. - Soil cultivation, when it is necessary. - Selection of the appropriate forest species. - Additional forest amelioration measures (fertilization and legumes planting.)
