Abstract
Annual transport of sediment is a very significant parameter in the regulation of torrents. Based on field investigations, the paper analyzes the results of sediment transport in the torrents Ljestarska Dolina, Kalimanska Reka and Repinska Reka in Southeast Serbia. A much lower transport of sediment was recorded in the rivers Kalimanska Reka and Repinska Reka (compared to sediment transport in the Ljestarska Dolina), as by erosion control measures the erosion processes in these watersheds have been reduced to the category of weak erosion. The research shows that there is a significant correlation between annual characteristics of sediment transport (transport of suspended and total sediment, mean annual turbidity) and the pluvial-erosion index. Coefficients of Determination R2 range between 0.866 and 0.94. Also, significant correlation has been observed between the transport of total and the transport of suspended sediment. Coefficient of Determination in this case is R2 0.97.
