In this paper first results of deposition monitoring in Austrian oak forests are introduced. The time span of monitoring from 1. July 1989 until 31. December 1989 is too short to compare the results with data of other authors. But nevertheless this work contains important data because there is no information about load of air pollutants to this area. Input of atmospheric constituents seems to be small. There are problems to balance element fluxes in the oak stand but it is obvious that the assimilation of ammonium is higher than of nitrate. By use of so called "passive samplers" the air pollution by NO2 and SO2 was measured and nitric oxide emissions from the soil can be shown.
