There was a preliminary investigation made which involved isolating fungi connected with oak decline in Hungary. Furing the incubation period when wood disk samples were collected from stems from five local places in the western part of the country, there appeared a large amount of Ceratocystis piceae and Ceratocystis erinaceus sp.nov. This paper gives the description of new species and deals with circumstances of the appearance of this fungus.
