- AbstractDefence mechanisms in Norway spruce were compared between trees growing in forest stands with contrasting structure and species composition. Primary resin flow rate, wound reaction after low density inoculation with Ceratocystis polonica and resin flow after inoculation were related to resin duct density and monoterpene content of the bark. The effects of tree growth on constitutive and induced defence and the interaction with forest restoration measurements are discussed.
