- AbstractThe aim of the study was a trial plot with progenies of trees of comb-, comb- bunch-, bunch-, and bunch-plate-shaped branching habit. Measurements and investigations of 9-year-old progenies in the trial plot were carried out after 5 years from planting in the early spring of 1987. Tree heights and diameters of trees at the ground surface were measured and branches of the first and second order in the last but one whorl were counted. The position of branches of the second order in relation to branches of the first order was also assessed as well as the number of trees attacked by Cnaphalodes strobilobius and the number of multiaxis trees. It can be concluded that progenies of the comb-shaped type proved to be the best in the trial plot. They reach the largest average height, the largest average number of branches and exhibit also the least damage by aphids of the species Chaphalodes strobilobius.
