Abstract
The distribution of the Fungus D. septospora is world-wide. D. septospora has been observed on more than fifty Pinus species, and on Larix decidua, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Picea sitchensis and Picea abies. In Yugoslavia, D. septospora has caused greates damage in plantations of Pinus nigra Arn., but it has also been recorded on P. nigra var. maritima, P. mugo, P. halepensis, P. sylvestris and on exotic species P. ponderosa, P. jeffreyi and P. contorta. Scots pine has been very resistant, however in 1986. This species was also mildly infected at Deliblato Sands. The damage was especially great in Austrian pine plantations of the Deliblato Sands and the Subotica-Horogos Sands, where Dothistroma septospora and Sphaeropsis sapinea occurred in connection. S. sapinea caused the drying up of current-year shoots (new shoots), whereas D. septospora infected needles from the previous years. In this way the trees were completely without their assimilation organs, they weakened physiologically and they began to dry (ususally die-back).
