Abstract
The aim of the paper has been to determine the effects of mineral fertilizers (nitrogenous, phosphoric, and NPK) to the growth of silver birch half-sib progenies (Betula pendula Roth.). The results show that NPK treatment has had the most effective results. In the first year, height increment of the seedling after the treatment amounted to 22% compared to the control, and root collar diameter increased for 27%. In the second year, the increase amounted to even 49% when compared to the control seedling. The analysis of N, P and K contents in the leaves of three-year seedlings has shown a more significant shortage of nitrogen and potassium, and a good content of phosphorous. This point to the need of repeated nutrition with nitrogen during the vegetation.
