The statistics available, reveal that in the mountains parts of Eastern Anatolia, snow avalanches cause a death all of on average 40 people in a year without any notice of public, and the property loss can hardly be estimated. During the winter of 1992, 284 people died in three big loose snow avalanches which took place in the same region. At 110 residential units located mostly at rural areas of 13 cities, 726 houses were damaged and it will cost of 12x10 hoch 6 US$ to rebuilt them. In this article, the natural disaster is studied from geographical, geological, geomorphological and meteorological points of view. Also a field survey of the event is presented.
