The situation of information technologies in the State Forest Administration of Lower Saxony is dexcribed. Especially having an integrated database and actual instruments for analysing the data will allow a comfortable und efficient flow of information to support management decisions. There are three combined categories of information: - information describing the condition of the forest based on forest inventory (natural facts), - information about the planed activites (10 years forestinventory, planed acitivities of the actual year) and - information on the results of actual measures. Changing targets and new knowledge, based on the analysis of actual results will have immediate consequences on management-planning and actiona. Instruments and rules for change-management are discussed.
