The storms that crossed Central Europe in spring 1990 destroyed many forest stands in Bavaria. In order to obtain information about the development of natural and planted tree regeneration following windthrow more than fifty permanent observation plots were established in the more heavily affected forest regions of Bavaria. Data on the development of ground layer vegetation and tree regeneration were recorded alongside with information on site conditions and structure of the preceeding stands. This article presents results of the 1991 and 1995 campaigns carried out in plots situated near Landshut in the forest owned by the University of Munich.
