This article outlines 40 years of practical experience gained in the management of valuable oak stand located in a forest enterprise in Sachsen-Anhalt. In this period, a 135-ha oak plantation was established, 20 ha were naturally regenerated, young plants and thicket were tended on 115 ha and 127 ha of oak understories were established. The state of the district and the procedures are described. The most important prerequisite to long-term success in silviculture with oak is continuity.
